This is a fundraiser for Children’s Assistive Technology Service (CATS) which provides teams to compete in creating dream-come-true Halloween costumes for children, ages 4-16 who depend on wheelchair mobility. We are looking for children in the greater Richmond, Charlottesville, Lynchburg and Roanoke to participate. First come, first serve, with preference to first time participants.
Upon completing and submitting the online Hallowheels Participant Application, the child’s parent or legal guardian agrees to the following:
- Photo and video release– no personal information will be published, However the news media will be invited and may ask for your child’s name.
- Participation on Saturday, September 21- 2-4 p.m. at a location in one of the four cities named above for team and child meet and greet, with initial design planning and frame build. Do bring your ideas! (Sunday, September 22 may be the date for this at some locations)
- Participation on Saturday, October 26- 10 a.m.-noon. for costume presentation at a location to be announced in each of the four cities. Transport of your child’s wheelchair costume home can be arranged with your advance request.
- Optional: Participation in the Charlottesville City Halloween Parade from 2-5 p.m. Details provided on request. Must be able to transport your own costume to this event!
This is a fundraising event. October 27 through November 3, 2019, the public is invited to vote ($) for their favorite costume on the CATS website. The teams of costume builders are competing- not the children! Children’s names will not be posted online. However, you can support CATS and express appreciation for your child’s team by encouraging friends and family to vote for your child’s costume. Thank You!
