C.A.T.S. Receives Grants

Children’s Assistive Technology Service (CATS) is honored to receive grants to assist in our mission to provide refurbished adaptive equipment and assistive technology to children that need it at no cost.   Recently, grants were received from the Al Stroobants Foundation, CE Richardson Benevolent Foundation, Pacific Life Foundation, Langley for Families Foundation, the EC Wareheim Foundation and the Hampton Roads Community Foundation.

Hallowheels: The Results are in and………….

Congratulations and Thank you to all our Hallowheels Participants who caught the attention of people as far away as California, Oregon and even Australia!  The first place winner was Woody from Toy Story; second place goes to Space X Astronaut; and the sweet tooth battle for third was won in the end by Topsy Turvy Birthday Cake!

RUC Students Help C.A.T.S. through Research

Radford University Carilion DPT students have completed literature review regarding the efficacy of assistive technology in improving participation of children with disabilities.  This research helps support CATS grant writing team.  CATS also gratefully accepts stories from individuals about their use of assistive technology.

PT Day of Service

The University of Lynchburg DPT program  supported C.A.T.S. on the PT Day of Service, on Oct 10th, coming out to clean equipment as well as selling tee shirts for operational cost support.  We thank all our college student volunteers who help make C.A.T.S. mission successful!

Hallowheels Sponsor Spotlight

Huge thank you to GFWC Roanoke County Woman’s Club for their ongoing support of CATS, specifically through sponsorship of HalloWheels. This Club has provided funding, food, and fun decorations for each of the HalloWheels events in the Roanoke area. All 3 years! This year they present a check for $1000 to assure the smiles shine through the masks.

CORAkids Supports C.A.T.S.

CORAkids—a CORA Physical Therapy program– has renewed its sponsorship of CATS mission: Through responsible re-use, meeting the equipment needs of children living with disability, when health insurance is unavailable, insufficient or uncooperative! This agreement allows for a closer working relationship to benefit “our” kids.

C.A.T.S Executive Director Search Announcement

Due to the planned retirement of our Executive Director later this year or early next, we are seeking applicants for the next Executive Director to lead our organization into a future which will allow increased access to durable medical equipment to children and families who need it, when they need it to acquire next step of development, participate in family activities, and not only survive but thrive.
